Andrew Rose
Andrew has a passion for helping people understand risk, the heart of which stems from the near loss of over 400 lives in a near catastrophic accident on the 28th June 1999. That fateful day brought realisation that no matter where we work within a safety critical industry we have to be able to say that we made the best decisions we could using all the information available to us.
It was from that start, as a design engineer at British Airways, that his journey has lead on through Accident Investigator and Safety Manager roles in British Airways, Head of Risk Analysis and Head of Safety Strategy roles in NATS (the UK air traffic service provider) and now to his own company (Llanbury Consulting). Andrew’s work through Llanbury Consulting allows him to focus that passion for the understanding of risk and to take it on beyond the aviation domain.
Through Llanbury Consulting Andrew works extensively, and internationally, in the risk domain. His focus is on developing our ability to understand, measure and communicate risk and, as the co-founder of the ARMS (Aviation Risk Management Solutions) Working Group, Andrew continues to work internationally on the definition of common approaches to the measurement of risk. One of the key aims of Llanbury Consulting is to help organisations develop efficient ways to turn data into knowledge and then innovative ways to communicate that knowledge to empower individuals to make the very best risk management decisions. Ultimately the key to a safer and more efficient business lies in the effective understanding of risk by those responsible for day to day operational delivery.
Andrew is a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Measurement and Control.
